Birds is the Word
Oooohhh, I’m excited to fill you in on this little eatery! Birds is a staple of mine. For fun, for comfort, for a great time, you must visit this amazing hideaway in the homey neighborhood of Franklin Ave. Located close to the Hollywood sign, in between establishments like The Daily Planet (a newsstand/giftshop), Bourgeois Pig (an enchanting cafe), Upright Citizens Brigade (THE place for comedy and improv), and much more, Birds is the spot to go with friends, family or a date!
The food at Birds is exceptional. Known for their Signature Marinated Rotisserie Chicken and for picky eaters (like me!), you have many ways you can mix and match how you want your chicken dish. Choose the chicken size, white or dark meat, what and how many sides you’d like (you can pick items like Homemade Mac and Cheese, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Caesar Salad, BBQ Baked Beans, or Coleslaw just to name a few), and which sauces you want as well (sauces like Chipotle Mayo, Zesty BBQ, or Ranch). I love to order the 1/4 White Meat Rotisserie Chicken with a side of Steamed Mixed Veggies and dipping sauces artichoke-garlic and Malaysian Sweet & Hot. The rotisserie chicken also comes with Lavish Bread so what you want to do is pull off some pieces of the chicken, roll them into the lavish bread, drizzle the sauce into your mini wrap and munch it up! Oh, it’s so good. But on to more of the rest of fab food! I have to do the rest of the menu justice. Everything is awesome!!
To start your meal, order the 1/2 foot or the full foot tower of Onion Rings (depending on how many people you’re eating with). Now, these onion rings kind of beat out all other onion rings in my opinion. Reason being, I would not eat onion rings before tasting these. These onion rings converted me to an onion ring lover! They are beer-battered but do not have that heavy texture or consistency. The onions themselves are sweet and slightly crunchy, perfection! And the onion rings also come with three dipping sauces: Ketchup, BBQ, and Chipotle Mayo. They really are a must order when you come here!
Other items you should definitely gobble up are the Crispy Chinese Chicken Salad, the Ahi Tuna Burger, the Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Chicken Caesar Wrap (regular or crispy chicken), the Grilled Shrimp Tacos, and their Veggie Burger. (Side note-I should not write these posts in between meals … now I’m hungry!!)
Birds also has a fantastic bar with Happy Hour(s) going from 4-6 Monday-Friday! Birds is always having fun events for holidays and if it’s a special day for you, look into the “Birdcage.” That’s all I’m saying. (-:
The staff at Birds rocks, sit inside or outside and if you want to bring your puppy, go ahead, they even have a puppy sized meal option!
P.S. Birds supports local animal rescues and adoption, just one more reason to LOVE Birds.
